Edinburgh Airport now the sixth largest in the UK
2010-05-16 01:18:20BAA has issued a Press release, containing the information that Edinburgh Airport is now the sixth largest in the UK in terms of passenger numbers, overtaking Birmingham and closing in on its nearest rival Luton.
Figures released yesterday by the CAA show that Edinburgh was the only airport in the top ten to grow in the past 12 months, with passengers increasing by 1.6%. All other airports registered a fall in passenger numbers.
This performance sees the Scottish capital’s airport now ranked sixth, moving ahead of Birmingham in the UK rankings, with over 9 million passengers using the airport in the 12 months to February 2010.
If last year's trends continue, Edinburgh is set to break into the top five in a matter of months. Nearest rival Luton registered over 9m passengers but saw a decline of 8.6% last year.

In the year to February 2010, Edinburgh Airport had 9,022.434 passengers, an increase of 1.6% on the previous year.
